SaferSEA @ Sea Tech Week® 2024
The Sea Tech Week®, a biannual event dedicated to marine science and technology, took place in Brest on October 15th to 17th, 2024. This year’s edition focused on Marine Safety and Security, with Ireland as the country of honour.
The project partners were invited to attend this event as it met SaferSEA’s objectives, and it was an opportunity to give visibility to our current and future activities.
A dedicated SaferSEA stand had been booked, where participants had the possibility to browse the Capitalisation Report and look for similar projects already implemented in Europe, and to search for relevant maritime actors in the Atlantic Area through the Stakeholders’ Map.
Project partner Cedre also led its own workshop, on the topic of “Ammonia as a maritime fuel: bridging knowledge gaps for a safe and green future”. This 2.5-hour workshop consisted of a presentation of solutions and plans to achieve the goals of the initial IMO GHG Strategy, and an extensive state-of-the-art review of the hazards and challenges for ammonia-fueled ships. The speakers’ panel included representatives from CEPPOL – Centre d’Expertises Pratiques de lutte antiPOLLution (Centre of Practical Expertise in antipollution response), Yara Clean Ammonia, Bureau Veritas, Haropa Port (Ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris) and Cedre.
This event in Brest was also an opportunity to get all partners together for a meeting to review the project’s upcoming actions for 2025.
